River Hills Baptist church

Rev. Kent Smith- Senior Pastor | Was born in Maine but grew up in New Jersey. Kent recieved a B.A. in Philosophy from Furman University in 1984 and then joined the Army for 4 yrs. He then went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Theological Seminary in 1990 and spent the next 6 years in Danville, VA as Minister of Education at North Main Baptist Church. In 1996 Kent brought his family to Spartanburg and took the position of Senior pastor at Park Hills which later merged to form River Hills Baptist Church which Kent has been the pastor of for the past 15 yrs. Kent has been happily married to his wife Sandy for 27 years and together they have three children; Brent, Shelby, and Evan.

Rev. Drew Hensley- Associate Minister | Grew up in Columbia, Missouri and went on to attend Cedarville University in Ohio where he recieved his B.A. in Pastoral studies in 2003. Drew then took a Minister of Families position at Avondale Estates Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga for the next 2 yrs. In 2008 Drew and his wife of 4 yrs, Laura moved to Moore, SC where he began working with River Hills.

Gary & Julie Blackwood- Worship Leaders | Have served as worship leaders at River Hills for the past several years. Gary studied at North Greenville University and Julie studied at Anderson University here in South Carolina. Both have numerous musical gifts and a heart for leading the church in worshipping our creator. Gary and Julie have 3 children; Clay, Mallory, and Jonathan.
